Cassisi Architects won a tender to design a new public amenities building for Malahang Reserve in Heidelberg West for Banyule City Council.
The brief requested consideration of many important factors when designing this type of facility. The most important was a simple design that integrated well within the site context, well ventilated, durable materials, considered privacy, safety, accessibility, and graffiti, sustainability and vandalism. The interior was particularly important to allow enough visual contrast for the public with low vision and who experienced decrease colour perception. The contrasting colours provide, a vibrant, safe, clean and easy to use facility for the public.
